Horizon Call of the Mountain Review

horizon on PS VR2

As a devoted fan of the Horizon series and a VR enthusiast, I was beyond excited to play Horizon Call of the Mountain on the PlayStation VR2. From start to finish, it was an immersive, enthralling experience that captivated me with its stunning graphics and engrossing gameplay.

One of the most impressive aspects of the game was its VR implementation. The world of Horizon has always been breathtaking, but the VR experience takes it to a whole new level. From scaling large cliff faces to engaging in intense bow and arrow combat with Glintahawks, the game made me forget that I was in my own living room. The tactile, physical nature of the climbing was especially well done and left me feeling like I had truly climbed a real rockface.

The combat was also incredibly well done. The game’s bow combat system was fantastic, achieving the intense, immersive experience of being a badass archer with ease. The game’s visuals were among the best I’ve ever seen in VR, and the lighting and even the little details were top-notch.

The game’s creatures were another standout feature. The scale of the machines was breathtaking, and the attention to detail in their design was impressive. Even the simple act of having a Tallneck walk over the player early in the game left me feeling truly immersed in the world of Horizon.

However, the game was not without its faults. The awkwardness of switching between climbing implements was somewhat jarring and detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, the main character’s constant talking felt a bit too frequent and took me out of the experience at times. Oh and it’s a bit short. A couple of hours.

PSVR2

Overall, Horizon Call of the Mountain was a fantastic adaptation of the Horizon series to VR. It stayed true to the essence of the original game, focusing on the bow combat and creature design, while also providing a new and compelling element with rock climbing. The game’s level of immersion was unparalleled – The game is a must-play for any fan of the Horizon series or anyone looking for an engrossing VR experience.
